DLookup MsAccess

Getting a value from a table: DLookup()

Sooner or later, you will need to retrieve a value stored in a table. If you regularly make write invoices to companies, you will have a Company table that contains all the company's details including a CompanyID field, and aContract table that stores just the CompanyID to look up those details. Sometimes you can base your form or report on a query that contains all the additional tables. Other times, DLookup() will be a life-saver.
DLookup() expects you to give it three things inside the brackets. Think of them as:
Look up the _____ field, from the _____ table, where the record is _____
Each of these must go in quotes, separated by commas.
You must also use square brackets around the table or field names if the names contain odd characters (spaces, #, etc) or start with a number.
This is probably easiest to follow with some examples:
  1. you have a CompanyID such as 874, and want to print the company name on a report;
  2. you have Category such as "C", and need to show what this category means.
  3. you have StudentID such as "JoneFr", and need the student?s full name on a form.

Example 1:

Look up the CompanyName field from table Company, where CompanyID = 874. This translates to:
   =DLookup("CompanyName", "Company", "CompanyID = 874")
You don't want Company 874 printed for every record! Use an ampersand (&) to concatenate the current value in the CompanyID field of your report to the "Company = " criteria:
   =DLookup("CompanyName", "Company", "CompanyID = " & [CompanyID])
If the CompanyID is null (as it might be at a new record), the 3rd agumenent will be incomplete, so the entire expression yields #Error. To avoid that use Nz() to supply a value for when the field is null:
   =DLookup("CompanyName", "Company", "CompanyID = " & Nz([CompanyID],0))

Example 2:

The example above is correct if CompanyID is a number. But if the field is text, Access expects quote marks around it. In our second example, we look up the CategoryName field in table Cat, where Category = 'C'. This means the DLookup becomes:
   =DLookup("CategoryName", "Cat", "Category = 'C'")
Single quotes within the double quotes is one way to do quotes within quotes. But again, we don't want Categoy 'C' for all records: we need the current value from our Category field patched into the quote. To do this, we close the quotation after the first single quote, add the contents of Category, and then add the trailing single quote. This becomes:
   =DLookup("CategoryName", "Cat", "Category = '" & [Category] & "'")

Example 3:

In our third example, we need the full name from a Student table. But the student table has the name split into FirstName and Surname fields, so we need to refer to them both and add a space between. To show this information on your form, add a textbox with ControlSource:
   =DLookup("[FirstName] & ' ' & [Surname]", "Student", "StudentID = '" & [StudentID] & "'")

Quotes inside quotes

Now you know how to supply the 3 parts for DLookup(), you are using quotes inside quotes. The single quote character fails if the text contains an apostrophe, so it is better to use the double-quote character. But you must double-up the double-quote character when it is inside quotes.
See Quotation marks within quotes for details.

ELookup()

If you are interested in an extended DLookup() that operates faster, handles nulls correctly, and lets you to specify which of several possible matches you want returned, see: ELookup(). Suits Access 95 and later.

Merging Many .VCF Files In One File & Convert To CSV

Merging Many .VCF Files In One File & Convert To CSV
Phonebook or a contact information is the most important part of every mobile user. Most of us have forgotten to keep a written backup of any mobile number and when we do not have our mobile along, we are helpless. This is also true when you want to change mobile phone or want to transfer complete mobile contact information or phone book.
These are the days of faster upgrade of mobile devices and we are changing mobile handsets more frequently. now when you want to transfer your contact numbers from old mobile to new one, there are many problems we come across, like different mobile manufacturing companies use different file formats, different type of backups and various computer sync software.
https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjptr73CQy8R3T59HQ1iZzu0kiDYPvMCXc0jdmpYYtwBMc92ZSHab7HAQuCRsIkmYl4Z8776WmEaZhPFq_uQmlFQ2kcG05RYYPADLmV2Nk2smBGnKKJWfPoESaQe4u0Vs08Gvo0g6pT46PC/s320/phonebook.png
Most of the mobiles do have an option to backup your mobile phonebook but they all save the backup file in a proprietary format. Eg. Nokia saves a backup file in .nbf format. You can use that backup file only for other Nokia mobile. (Read How to extract and Read Nokia Backup File like .nbf and .noki) But if you have changed the handset manufacturer this phonebook backup does not come to your help and you have to transfer all these addresses manually.
The other way is to save all your phone-book as a vcf file. All the phones have this function but the problem is each and every entry is saved as a separate file. So if you have say 500 contacts, there will be 500 .vcf files.
VCF

This is the most commonly used contact format. It's called "Visiting Card File / format". You will find this type of contact files when you try to backup your entire contacts from your mobile to memory card. Your mobile will save every contact in one .vcf file. If you want to transfer all your contact from mobile to any other software you have to manually transfer each and every file. So What is the solution to transfer all these contacts at once?
Yes - you need to concatenate or merge all the VCFs into a single file

1. If you're using windows:

GOTO Command prompt. (Windows_Key + R)

Run: cmd

2. Change to the directory where all your VCFs are stored
            d:
     cd   \my_vcfs

3. Run this command

copy   /B   *.vcf   all_in_one.vcf

all-vcf-one-file

Then just upload the "all_in_one.vcf" file to your software and it will grab all your contacts in one go

CSV

CSC is the most commonly used data management format. Its
Comma Separated Value file. You can use simple office excel to edit the file.

Convert .vcf File into .CSV file easily.
Just go here LINK

pastu upload ke dalam contacts google lah.

Make a bootable disk

Open An Elevated Command Prompt

Click Start -> All Programs -> Accessories and right-click on Command Prompt. Select Run As Administrator. Of course, you need to be able to authenticate as the administrator on the PC you’re using.
usb installation disk windows 7

Partitioning The Disk

Type:
DISKPART
usb installation disk
This will open up the partitioning application. Next, type:
LIST DISK
Figure out which of the drives listed is your USB drive, and note the number. It’s crucial you get this right, or you’re going to end up losing data on other drives.
usb installation disk
Next, type the following series of commands, but replace the DISK number in the first line with the appropriate number from the above list. Here, my disk is number 1. Don’t confuse this with PARTITION 1. That number should not change, even if your disk is 3.
SELECT DISK 1
CLEAN
CREATE PARTITION PRIMARY
SELECT PARTITION 1
ACTIVE
FORMAT FS=NTFS
ASSIGN
EXIT
usb installation disk

Make It Bootable!

The format step may take a little while (it actually took about 30 minutes on my machine). When you’re done, put in your installation DVD if you haven’t already. Note down which drive letter your USB disk and Windows installation DVD are located at.
usb installation disc
Go back to your command prompt and type – assuming D: is your DVD drive with the install DVD, and U: is your USB drive:
D:/BOOT/BOOTSECT.EXE /NT60 U:
This will basically make your USB drive bootable.
usb installation disc

Copy Everything

The final step can be done from My Computer. Just open up the installation DVD, highlight everything, and drag it over to your USB drive.
usb installation disc
This will also take a while.
usb installation disk windows 7
Now you should be all set – just insert the USB disk into your new PC, and enter the BIOS to adjust the boot order, or choose the option during start up which says Choose Boot Device.

How To Block Internet Download Manager Automatic Updates

There is a much more effective way of stopping the update checks, you will need to open up regedit (there isno need to run as administrator) and go to the following key:
1
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\DownloadManager

and then change the “LastCheck” and/or “LastTry” value to something like e.g.:

1
[10/22/15]

Then restart your computer and you will no longer be nagged!

I have always hated how Internet Download Managers developers have forced the “automatic update” us all of its users.

As well as sending sensitive (serial / license checking) data back to their servers, it also nags you to update!

If you want to put an end to this invasion of privacy, all you need to do it is simply add the following to your host file:

174.133.70.198 localhost
174.133.70.98 localhost
star.tonec.com localhost

You can edit your host file you a utility such as BarevTM Host File Editor

Or you can setup your firewall to block this IP on ALL ports: 174.133.70.198 AND 174.133.70.98 AND this Host: star.tonec.com
